Louchiez Purifoy has had limited experience playing cornerback at Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest.
But he's proving to have great catch-up speed - as in the speed in which he is soaring up the charts in the Rivals 250 for the Class of 2011 that was released Wednesday.
Purifoy, a Florida commit, is the highest rated newcomer to the list, checking in at No. 116. But he's not the only one. Fourteen other recruits found their way onto the list for the first time, including three others in the Top 150.
There's Floyd Raven, a 6-2, 180-pound corner from Reserve (La.) East St. John at No. 122; Kendall Thompson, a 6-3, 232-pound linebacker and Texas commit from Carthage (Texas) High at 140; and A.J. Johnson, a 6-3, 226-pound linebacker from Gainesville (Ga.) High at 141.
Purifoy created the most interest though.
"Purifoy is a big corner with elite speed and good ball skills," Rivals.com analyst Barton Simmons said. "He's physical at the line of scrimmage but his makeup speed is what really separates him. With his size and speed and his limited experience playing the cornerback position, Purifoy has a ton of upside."
