"It's just an honor and I never would have imagined both my sons would have an opportunity to play in this game," Bob Shipley, Brownwood's coach and the father of Jaxon and Jordan, said. "I'm very proud of them. I hope this is the first step in many in Jaxon following in Jordan's footsteps."
Meanwhile, at Abilene (Texas) High, the selection of Herschel Sims was viewed as a statement for the school's program.
"It's a real testament not only to the way that he's played but to our program's success," Abilene head coach Steve Warren said. "It's exciting for him, his family and all of our families."
