Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose forward Adonis Thomas announced Thursday that he will be staying in-state and close to home by attending Memphis.
Thomas selected the Tigers over finalists Arkansas, Florida, UCLA and Memphis' in-state rival Tennessee. The 6-6, 205-pound Thomas, ranked No. 15, in the Rivals 150, had his pick of schools.
"It was something I had to do in my heart and something I felt," Thomas said at his announcement. "I just knew if coach (Josh) Pastner got the right guys, the program could still (get) to where coach Cal had it. He did a great job when he was here, but coach Pastner is looking to do an even better job."
Thomas noted: "The Memphis tradition is not going to end now."
