SAN ANTONIO -Anthony Sarao said he's "99.99 percent" committed to Stanford and, even if coach Jim Harbaugh leaves for another job, the Absecon (N.J.) Holy Spirit outside linebacker is all but set for the Cardinal.
"If Harbaugh leaves I might look at it but I'll still be at the school because I like the school," said Sarao, who said he was admitted to Stanford a few weeks ago. "I like the coach but I'm going for the school.
"You think about it a lot but you have to look at the recruiting class. We have a top 10 recruiting class and we still have some guys coming in. I've talked to some coaches about it and it's really what's best for him and his family.
"The prestige of the school stands out. I talk to people and they say, 'Wow, you're going to Stanford.' They definitely know I'm a smart kid plus the football does it all."
The only other school under consideration by Sarao, rated seventh at outside linebacker, No. 107 nationally and third in the New Jersey state rankings, is UCLA. He'll visit with the Bruins and Stanford in January. He committed to the Cardinal in February.
"They've been recruiting me for a while and I told them I'm going to take a visit so I'm going to keep my word on that and I like the coaches," Sarao said of UCLA.
"A lot of people said, 'Oh, you're going to the West Coast,' " Sarao said. "It's really a coincidence. I love the West Coast. They're not getting like 3 feet of snow like I just got in Jersey so it's all good."
