COLUMBUS, Ohio - Terrelle Pryor underwent surgery to "stabilize a ligament" in his right foot, an Ohio State spokesperson confirmed Friday.

Pryor sustained the injury to his right foot on a quarterback sneak play late in the fourth quarter of Ohio State's 31-26 win over Arkansas in the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday night. The injury caused Pryor to sit out one play, but he finished the game for the Buckeyes.

Following the game, Pryor was in noticeable pain when being held up by teammates in the postgame interview. After the game when Pryor was asked to describe what he was feeling, he replied, "pain."

Pryor was named the Sugar Bowl's MVP after throwing for 221 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for another 115 yards.

The quarterback had made headlines before the game for being one of five Ohio State football player suspended for five games of the 2011 season by the NCAA for selling memorabilia given to them by the university in the form of awards.

Though speculation arose that Pryor may think about leaving Ohio State for the NFL once the suspensions were released, the quarterback has affirmed repeatedly that he plans on returning for his senior season.

In order to not be suspended by Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel for the bowl game, Pryor and the other four players had to pledge to the head coach they'd return to the team next year.

Pryor said after the Sugar Bowl that he didn't feel ready to take the step to the next level.

"I don't think I am really ready for the NFL," he said. "I think I've got a lot of learning and better decision-making (that) I have to make on and off the field."
