Taking in junior days

Northwest Rankin defensive end Will Freeman started his junior day tour a few weeks back at Mississippi State. Since that time he has also visited Louisiana-Lafayette for their junior day and was pretty impressed with what he saw at both schools. And the 6-foot-6 and 225-pound Freeman is looking forward to hearing from the Bulldogs in the future.

As a junior at Northwest Rankin, Freeman had 64 tackles, including eight sacks, and also had three fumbles forced, three fumble recoveries and nine PBUs.

The coaches at MSU are one of the main reasons Freeman is so positive about the Bulldogs.

"Coach (Greg) Knox is my recruiting coach," said Freeman. "Every time I see him he just has this huge smile on his face. He is a great guy. I also got to talk to Coach (Chris) Wilson at junior day and came away very impressed."

Academics are a huge part of Freeman's life and MSU certainly made an impression on him from that point as well.

"They stressed academics to us," noted Freeman. "They explained to us if your GPA is this, then you have to make this on the ACT. That was very helpful. They also urged us to go ahead and registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse. The coaches at MSU stress academics and that's important."

Freeman is also said he was hearing from several other schools on the recruiting front.

"I am hearing from MSU, USM, UL, Arkansas State, and Tennessee," Freeman said. "I want to camp at ULL, MSU, and USM."

One of the things that has MSU in Freeman's list of schools is Davis Wade Stadium.

"I absolutely love their field," said Freeman. "They have natural grass there and I love playing on natural grass. I like it alot better than that field turf. Another thing is the intensity of the players. I got to attend a couple of games last year and their defense just flies to the ball. MSU is sending me the most stuff, were the first to contact me, and are recruiting me the hardest."

Freeman is also looking forward to his senior season and is among many returning starters at Northwest Rankin.

"Next year we have four of our five offensive linemen back," Freeman mentioned. "I think we are gonna have a good year. We have three defensive linemen back, most of our linebackers, and all of our defensive backs. We have a chance to be very good."
