Dobbs gaining interest

Running back/slot receiver Marquis Dobbs made his share of plays last year - on the ground and in the passing game. The Mortimer Jordan (Morris, Ala.) High School rising senior rushed for 562 yards and five touchdowns and also collected 402 receiving yards and two more scores.

So far this summer, Dobbs has displayed his talents and speed at SEC camps.

"I have been to Mississippi State and Georgia," said the 5-foot-9 and 187-pound Dobbs. "And I am going to Ole Miss pretty soon and that may be it unless I go to some camps at some smaller schools.

"It's been good to compete against a lot of talent. Some players are not able to do all of these camps and I feel blessed to have the opportunities."

And while going against that "talent", Dobbs said he is continuing to work on his game.

"I've gotten a lot better with my footwork and that has come from competing against other prospects," said Dobbs. "I am just trying to learn as much as I can at these camps and this offseason."

At MSU's camp earlier this month, Dobbs posted solid forty times and enjoyed his second visit to Starkville this year.

"It went great and I had a good forty time," said Dobbs. "I ran a 4.45 the first time and I was happy with that and then I ran a 4.52/ The coaches said they liked me a lot and said they would stay in touch. That was my first time to camp there and I also went to their junior day. It was better the second time because I got to see more of the campus and see more of their facilities."

And in his recruitment, Dobbs noted the Bulldogs are among those schools showing him interest.

"I am getting most of my looks as a running back and some as a slot receiver," noted Dobbs. "I don't have any offers yet but I am getting good interest from Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Middle Tennessee State and Arkansas State. I am just waiting to see who might offer and see what options I will have later this year."
