Willis, Jackson to transfer

A UNC official confirmed to Tar Heel Illustrated at North Carolina's annual football Photo Day that defensive tackle Brandon Willis and cornerback Mywan Jackson have not reported to the team's training camp this week.

Both Jackson and Willis will seek transfers.

In a release by UNC Friday morning, head coach Everett Withers announced the departures of the two players.

"Mywan is working through some personal issues right now with his family and he felt it was in his best interest to stay in Florida until he decides where to continue his education," said Withers. "He indicated he would like to attend a school closer to his home and we support his decision. I wish him nothing but the best."

Willis attended classes at UNC in the 2010 spring semester and two sessions of summer school. He then transferred to UCLA two weeks into Carolina's fall training camp on Aug. 19.

He sat out the 2010 season at UCLA due to NCAA transfer rules. He then transferred back to Carolina this May and attended the second session of summer school in June.

According to UNC Athletic Communications, Jackson played in 18 games during his two seasons in Chapel Hill and made five starts in 2010. He had 20 tackles and broke up three passes a year ago.
