Florida announced Tuesday afternoon that sophomores Gerald Christian and Robert Clark intend to transfer from the program due to a lack of playing time.

"Both of these players have expressed a desire for more playing time and felt that it would be in their best interests to transfer," UF head coach Will Muschamp said in a statement. "We wish them both the best of luck and appreciate their contributions to the program."

Christian, a tight end, had four catches for 72 yards and one touchdown this season and saw a significant role increase following an injury to freshman tight end A.C. Leonard during fall camp. With Leonard back in the mix, Christian was competing with him and sophomore Jordan Reed for playing time.

"I'm looking for an opportunity to play more," Christian said in a statement. "I have no bad feelings about Florida or the coaching staff, I just want to get a fresh start and see the field more."

Clark, a wide receiver, had yet to record a catch so far this year after catching seven passes for 69 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman a year ago.

"I've enjoyed being a part of the Gator program but at the same time I'm excited about future opportunities to play more," Clark said in a statement. "I will have nothing but good memories from my time in Gainesville."

The two former Dwyer High School teammates are the seventh and eighth transfers since Muschamp took over the program this season, joining Chris Martin, Chris Dunkley, Javares McRoy, Mike Blakely, Michael McFarland and Dee Finley.
