Fabian Moreau has been waiting patiently for months, hoping that Boston College would offer him a scholarship. That offer hasn't come but the coaches are still talking to the Florida athlete.
Moreau, a 6-foot, 180-pound athlete from Davie (Fla.) Western, runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and put that speed to good use this year.
Western finished 5-4 on the season after one of their games was canceled and that record wasn't good enough to secure a spot in the state playoffs. Moreau did his part, though. He touched the ball 170 times on offense, whether on runs or receptions, racking up 1,402 yards of total offense and 18 scores.
Moreau has verbal offers from Kansas State, UCLA, Vanderbilt and several mid-majors but BC is a school that he's been waiting on.
"I've been talking to them," Moreau said of BC's coaches. "They're trying to get me in on an official visit soon so we'll see what happens later. They've been in contact with me."
Moreau said he hasn't been turned off by the lack of an offer, but not surprisingly most of his attention has been devoted to schools that have put offers on the table.
"Hopefully they offer me but they want me to visit first," he said. "I don't know what I plan on doing with that yet. I'm interested in them. It's a pretty good school and I have family up in Boston."
Moreau has an official visit to UCLA scheduled for December 9. That's the only official he has planned so far but he hopes to take all five allotted trips in December and January.
"I want to go to Vanderbilt, Oregon and I don't know where else yet. I don't know about the other two," he said.
With "9 or 10" offers to choose from Moreau has no shortage of options.
Moreau admits he has a few favorites for now.
"Oregon, UCLA and Vanderbilt," he said. "Those are my top three."
Oregon has not offered while the Bruins and Commodores have. Moreau hopes to make his decision sometime in January.
