Playing one of the most potent offenses in the country, everyone knew Oregon would tally up the yards. Looking at the stats it doesn't appear that the Beavers did much to stop the Ducks, however they played a very strong first half of football and kept the team in the game for longer than many expected.
Chip Kelly gambled four times on fouth down and the Beavers were able to stop them. The defense played with heart and determination, but the speed and athleticism of Oregon was too much.
Linebacker Feti Unga led the team in tackles and earned linebacker MVP honors. Unga ended the day with 13 tackles, while Michael Doctor and Cam Collins added eight. The Beavers saw some aggressive play by true freshmen DJ Welch and Josh Williams as the Beavers continue to build for the future. Welch had four tackles while Williams added two in limited action.
Anthony Watkins earned his second straight MVP honor with ten tackles, one for loss and one pass break-up. Rashaad Reynolds and Lance Mitchell were right behind him with 19 tackles and two break-ups as well. The secondary grew a lot throughout the season and should be a bright spot as the Beavers look to rebound next year.
