RB out for bowl game

Auburn sophomore running back Michael Dyer is suspended for the Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve against Virginia, sources told The reason for the suspension is not clear at this time.

Dyer finished the 2011 season second in the SEC in rushing yards behind only Alabama's Trent Richardson. Dyer rushed for 1,242 yards and 12 touchdowns on 242 carries. It was his second consecutive 1,000-yard season.

As a freshman in 2010, Dyer broke Bo Jackson's freshman record with 1,093 yards, including 143 yards against Oregon in the BCS National Championship Game.

In 2010, Dyer was named to the SEC Coaches' All-Freshman Team and was a second-team Freshman All-American. He was also named the BCS Title Game Offensive MVP.

As a sophomore in 2011, Dyer's 1,242 yards ranked 22nd nationally, and was the 10th-best single-season total in Auburn history. Dyer is also fourth in the SEC in scoring with 10 touchdowns, and had six games of 100 yards rushing or more, and four of 150 yards or more. He was recently named first-team All-SEC by the coaches.

In two seasons at Auburn, Dyer has rushed for 2,335 yards, No. 10 on Auburn's career rushing list.
