Coming off his official visit to Iowa this past weekend, Tevaun Smith had a decision to make. The 6-foot-2, 186-pound wide receiver could either choose a school now or wait until after the holidays and take some more visits. Tonight, Smith decided he was ready to end the recruiting process and gave the Hawkeyes his verbal commitment.
"Just made it official," Smith posted on Twitter. "I'm going to be a Hawkeye!"
Originally from Toronto, Smith is attending prep school this year in Kent, Connecticut. There, he emerged as a Division I prospect this season after leading his team to the Class A prep championship game. The Hawkeyes were the first team to offer in November followed by UCONN and Temple. Smith visited all three schools in recent weeks before making his decision.
With Smith on board, Iowa is up to sixteen commitments in the Class of 2012.
HawkeyeReport.com will have more on Smith's decision shortly.
