Williams out for the spring

Cornerback K'Waun Williams underwent surgery on his left knee and will miss the remainder of spring practice, Pitt announced on Thursday. The surgery corrected a pre-existing condition, and Williams is expected to be available for training camp in August.

Williams missed practice on Tuesday and Thursday this week. He was replaced on the first-team defense by sophomore Lloyd Carrington. Transfer redshirt sophomore Cullen Christian is the other first-team cornerback, and redshirt freshman Lafayette Pitts is Christian's backup.

Williams, a junior from Paterson (NJ), started all 13 games in 2011 and recorded 64 tackles - third-most on the team - five tackles for loss, one interception, three forced fumbles, and six pass breakups.

As a true freshman in 2010, he appeared in a total of 10 games. Williams started the BBVA Compass Bowl that season and recorded a team-high nine tackles. is your source for: College Football | Football Recruiting | College Basketball | Basketball Recruiting | College Baseball | High School | College Merchandise
