The Alabama Crimson Tide has owned the Panhandle lately, nabbing the area's top players year in and year out. However, this weekend the Florida State Seminoles struck back by landing one of the top prospects in Florida.
"I committed to Florida State. Just being there for the game, thinking about football and my comfort at FSU, I knew this is where I wanted to be after talking it over with my family," Ware said. "I actually got that feeling sitting at the five-yard line watching the FSU defense."
The relationship with the FSU staff also played a strong factor into the decision. In fact, out of all the staffs recruiting him, Ware felt most comfortable with the 'Noles.
"You just can't beat the relationship I have with Coach (D.J.) Eliot, Coach (Rick) Trickett and head coach Jimbo Fisher. I felt the closest to FSU's staff. Not to mention Florida State is close to home. It was a perfect fit."
Just a few weeks ago, Ware had Alabama as his leader. But after sitting down with his family, he determined FSU had more to offer than Alabama.
"Alabama is a great school, but I just felt more comfortable at FSU. Also Alabama would want me playing the buck linebacker in their defense, while FSU strictly liked me as a defensive end," he said. "But it was also the relationship I had with the FSU's coaching staff and how I felt when I was at FSU."
One of the highlights of Ware's visit last night was being able to see Bjoern Werner in action.
"It was incredible seeing how fast he got off the edge and his strength. Bjoern could not be stopped. As a defensive end that was a lot of fun to watch," he said. "It was an unbelievable performance and that's what I'm trying to achieve to as a player. FSU's defense overall was just outstanding. I loved everything about the game. It's a dream come true to finally be a Seminole, it's a dream come true."
Last Friday, Ware gave Seminole fans a glimpse of what they would expect in the future as he racked up 15 tackles, three sacks in a 24-14 win over Milton.
