Virginia Tech junior quarterback Logan Thomas admitted at today's weekly press conference that Saturday's loss at Pittsburgh might be the worst of his career.

A career-worst three interceptions, all coming in the first half, were key contributors in that notion, but Thomas didn't get any help. The defense was routinely beaten, while offensively, the running game couldn't get anything going, finishing with just 59 yards.

Thomas said what the rest of his team couldn't do though, didn't give him the feeling of having to press. But he admits to a little anxiety because of how the day went.

"Honestly, I think I had a little pressure on me just because it's up to me to put the pieces together, I guess and get everybody flowing in the right direction," Thomas said. "I guess that's the reason I have pressure on me."

Because of the Hokies' all-around poor play, Thomas said his teammates have placed the blame on his shoulders or right arm.

"Nothing's changed from the beginning of the season," Thomas said. "They've all got my back, just like I do theirs. They understand that it's not all on the quarterback's shoulders. I put a lot of pressure on myself, I guess. But at the same time, I have to let some of that pressure go because it's not always my fault."

Yesterday, quarterbacks coach Mike O'Cain suggested that Thomas might be trying to be too perfect sometimes, trying to do too much when it's not there. Thomas disagreed today, saying it's more a result of the confidence he has in his throws.

"I go out there, I see what I see and I throw the ball the way I expect to throw the ball and the way I feel to throw the ball," he said. "I don't think I'm trying to be perfect by any means."

Of course, Thomas said he also felt better when he watched film of his performance Saturday. There were mistakes, but had a bit more confidence moving forward.

"It was a lot better than I thought it was," he said. "We had a lot of key mistakes by pretty much everybody. I can't just pinpoint one person, it was the whole offense. We've just gotta come back out here today and the rest of the week and just be ready for Saturday."
