Introducing: Alassane Kah
Talk about it in The Main Board
Alassane Kah won't be making anymore college visits in the near future.
Kah, a 6-foot-10 forward/center, chose WKU over offers from Rhode Island, Richmond, Bowling Green, Delaware, and more.
"It's all about family out here," he said. "And I'm all about family, family comes first.
"I had a bond with the team and coaches, the people around there are so nice. It's the right fit."
Kah first played basketball in Senegal, before moving to the United States in 2009.
He compared his game to a former Hilltopper forward that some fans may have heard of, who now plays for the NBA's Utah Jazz.
"I like to run, block shots, rebound," Kah said. "I can shoot it when I'm open.
"I can post up well too. Some of the coaches compared me to (former WKU player) Jeremy Evans."
Fishburne Military School's post-grad basketball program is led by coach Ed Huckaby, who said Kah's strengths are athleticism and interior scoring.
"Really an inside-out guy, he can hit the 3," Huckaby said. "But he's really athletic, can run the floor really well.
"They (WKU) are getting a good player."
Huckaby has seen his fair share of 'good' players at Fishburne, where the post-grad program has produced 39 Division 1 signees in the last three years, including 11 Division 1 commitments this fall.
"So it's not like he (Kah) is out here playing with just anybody," Huckaby said.
Now that he's committed to WKU, Kah is happy the recruiting process is finally over with.
"I'm done with everything now," he said. "I'm a Hilltopper now."
Kah is the first commitment for WKU in the Class of 2013, leaving the Toppers with only one scholarship to fill for next year.
The 6-foot-10 forward/center was recruited first by WKU assistant coach David Boyden.
