There's No Future Beyond K-State

Texas coaches and players met with the media Monday to preview the Longhorns upcoming game in Manhattan, Kansas. Mack Brown has not faired well against Kansas State, with a 2-6 record and losing four straight to the Wildcats. In order for Texas to compete in Kansas, the team says it needs to come ready to play at a physical level.

"I don't know what it is about the water in Manhattan, but we just haven't been able to get it done." Junior offensive lineman Mason Walters said. "This year's a little bit different because Kansas State has been a good football team all year. It's not like they're somebody sneaking up on us or playing the role of the giant killer. They're the guys on top and we're rolling in as the under dogs."

"Those guys have a physical team," sophomore corner back Quandre Diggs said Monday, "Coach (Bill) Snyder has coached them real well. They've been like that for a very long time. We have to go out and do what we do. I feel like we can be very physical with these guys."

Kansas State is obviously known as a tremendous offensive team, with senior QB Collin Klein leading the Wildcats, but the K-State defense is not a unit to be overlooked. The defense has held its opponents to an average 121 yards rushing and 21 points per game.

"They make you execute your offense down the field. It's smart how they play. It's smart what they do. They make you do your job, very simply, from what I have seen." Texas co-offensive coordinator Bryan Harsin said.

Texas will be facing this defense with backup quarterback Case McCoy.
