While some USF commitments have dropped their pledge, or are looking at other offers, there is one player who is ready to put on the green and gold right now.
Darius Whitty of Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast can't wait to get to Tampa Jan. 18 for his official visit with the new coaching staff.
"I've think I've got a great chance to play as a true freshman," Whitty said. "I think I can go get on the field if I work hard enough."
Whitty committed to USF in June of 2012. He has a three-star rating from Rivals.com
Getting a chance to meet Head Coach Willie Taggart is also a high priority for the 6-1, 180 pd. DB.
"I talked to Coach Taggart about two weeks ago, and he's sounds energetic," Whitty said. "He's a young guy and really exciting to be around. I want to meet all the new coaching staff, to get to know them a little better."
Getting on the field for the Bulls under new defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan is a priority.
The first time he came to Tampa, Whitty said he felt it was the perfect fit. He fell in love with the atmosphere and the fan base.
"I had met some of the players and I liked the environment," said Whitty. "They have true fans that stick with you no matter what."
Whitty said he never wavered from his commitment to the Bulls.
"I made a commitment to go there - no matter what the coaching staff was - and I'm keeping it," Whitty stated. " This is it for me. I'm a Bull."
