For the better part of two years, Matthew Thomas has been one of the focal points of Florida State's 2013 recruiting class.
Now the Seminoles have their man.
"I just want (family) to come see me play, that's important to me so I think FSU is a good spot for me to do that," Thomas said on ESPNU.
Thomas, the No. 15 overall player and No. 2 outside linebacker in the nation, picked FSU over Miami on Wednesday morning. Thomas became the first five star to join the Seminoles' 2013 class.
A tall, rangy linebacker (6-3, 205 lbs.) who already flaunts college-ready attributes, Thomas is the crown jewel of what is expected to be a strong linebacker group in today's signing class. Freddie Stevenson has already enrolled at FSU while commitments EJ Levenberry and Ro'Derrick Hoskins are expected to ink with FSU on Wednesday. Tyrell Lyons has already sent his LOI in as well.
Barring a dramatic change, Thomas will be the second five-star signee in FSU's 2013 class. Warchant.com reported Monday that five-star cornerback Jalen Ramsey plans to ink with FSU today. His signing ceremony is at 11 a.m. ET.
