Keels headed to Nebraska

Junior college defensive lineman Joe Keels, who pledged to Wisconsin in early October, has decommitted from the Badgers in favor of Nebraska.

"I just didn't get the feel I did at Nebraska," Keels told BadgerBlitz.com. "I didn't feel they (Wisconsin) backed me 100 percent."

Keels, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound prospect from Highland, Highland C.C., played his senior season at Kenosha Bradford High School, where he teamed with current UW running back Melvin Gordon.

Before his official visit to Wisconsin the weekend of Nov. 28, Keels officially visited Nebraska, where the Cornhuskers established themselves as legit contenders in his recruitment.

"I'd say that the atmosphere at both places is neck and neck," Keels told Rivals.com. "The facilities were all nice, they were probably some of the best in the nation. It was all really impressive."

Keels officially visited West Virginia last weekend before making the news of decommitment public on Tuesday.

"The backing," Keels said when asked what put Nebraska over the top. "They showed me love 100 percent the whole way."

The Badgers now have 24 commitments in the 2014 class.
