Maryland gets its Prince

All of the hard work the Maryland coaching staff put into recruiting local five-star Damian Prince has paid off. The offensive tackle from Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara has decided to stay near home and play for the Maryland Terps.

"At Maryland, I have the opportunity to get on the field faster than the other schools," said the 6-foot-5, 292-pound Prince. "I'm comfortable with the new offensive line coach, with the other coaches, in the facilities and with the team."

Prince, who took his official visit to Maryland on Nov. 8, has a great comfort level on the campus and with the coaching staff, especially coach Mike Locksley. Prince also liked the hiring of new offensive line coach Greg Studrawa.

"Our talks went well," he said. "Coach Studrawa and I only met face to face once, but the few times we talked on the phone went well. I like how long he has been coaching and that he coached in the NFL and coached on a BCS Championship team recently."

The Florida Gators hosted Prince on an official visit last weekend, but even having his best friend, Jalen Tabor, recruiting him wasn't enough to convince Prince that Gainesville was the place for him.

"My gut just didn't tell me to go to Florida," Prince said.

The recruiting process has really worn out Prince and he seems happy to end the process.

"I'm very relieved," he said. "It was a long, strenuous process. I'm glad it's over with and I can just move on to the next step."

Prince took official visits to Maryland, Florida State, South Carolina and Florida
