Quick makes the call: Sooners

Michiah Quick has some hometown connections at Oklahoma and that was one big reason why he committed to Oklahoma.

The Fresno (Calif.) Central East four-star athlete picked the Sooners over Notre Dame, USC, UCLA and Alabama -- his other favorites -- on National Signing Day. His cousin, Hatari Byrd, and close friend, L.J. Moore, already play in Norman.

Quick, a 6-foot, 170-pound recruit, is rated as the fourth-best athlete and the No. 76 prospect in the 2014 class by Rivals.com. He's seventh in the California state rankings. The Fresno Central star looked good at the Semper Fidelis All-American Game and earlier at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour last summer in Chicago.

Quick is the sixth recruit from California in this Oklahoma recruiting class. The top prospect is five-star all-purpose back Joe Mixon, who picked the Sooners over UCLA and many others.
