HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Talented players from around the Southeast gathered on a pleasant afternoon at Hattiesburg High School as the Rivals Camp Series made its first ever stop in the state of Mississippi.
Multiple four-star prospects were on hand as some of the best players from Louisiana, Tennessee and Alabama joined their Mississippi counterparts for a day of drills, coaching and entertaining one-on-one matchups that will surely affect the next set of Rivals rankings.
Tyron Johnson, who was invited to the Five-Star Challenge a few weeks back in New Orleans, was again named MVP among the wide receivers.
Pro-style quarterback Ross Trail, who has offers from Louisville, Ohio State and others, earned MVP honors among the signalcallers.
On the defensive side, three underclassmen earned MVP awards. Linebacker Michael Divinity, defensive lineman Darius Whitfield and safety Joshua Perry all were named MVP and all hail from the class of 2016.
The Rivals Camp Series moves east on Sunday as it will host a camp at Hoover High School just outside of Birmingham, Ala., where a majority of the state's elite players will be in attendance.
At each camp, our team of football recruiting experts invites elite players to participate in the 2014 Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour. The event will be held June 6-8 at M&T Stadium in Baltimore.
