Four-star linebacker Sherrod Pittman (top) makes a play on his way to winning LB MVP.
OVIEDO, Fla. -- The Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour landed in talent-rich Florida for the weekend, stopping first outside of Orlando before moving on to Miami on Sunday. Just under 190 athletes attended the RCS Orlando event on a sun-splashed day, many of them carrying offers from elite programs. Six Five-Star Challenge invitations were handed out, matching RCS Los Angeles as the most on the 2014 tour to date.
Headlining the day was a pair of five-star defensive linemen. Seffner (Fla.) Armwood defensive end Byron Cowart and Glen Saint Mary (Fla.) Baker County defensive tackle CeCe Jefferson were the players to see at Oviedo High School, and they did not disappoint. Cowart absolutely owned the one-on-one drills, blasting past his opponent on nearly every rep en route to DL MVP honors.
The quarterback MVP was Deondre Francois from Orlando (Fla.) Olympia, who got the nod over four-star Florida State commit De'Andre Johnson and Class of 2016 standout Feleipe Franks.
Three-star offensive lineman Tyree Saint Louis gave observers reason to consider him for a fourth star with a strong performance, as he picked up OL MVP honors after butting heads with some serious talent along the defensive line.
At linebacker, Rivals100 Jacksonville First Coast High School's Sherrod Pittman earned MVP honors.
The Rivals Camp Series train will keep rolling on Sunday with a stop in talent-rich South Florida. Stay tuned to Rivals.com for all the latest from a camp that promises to have an inordinate amount of high-level players at the skill positions.
