RCS Atlanta: Postcard from camp

Jonathan Ledbetter did not let a torn jersey keep him from D-line MVP honors.
ATLANTA -- Nearly 220 athletes converged at the Marist School for one of the most talent-laden stops on the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour tour on Saturday. Under cloudy skies, many of Georgia's best engaged in heated competitions as multiple four-star and three-star athletes competed against those who were looking to make their mark.

In the end, eight players received invitations to the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Baltimore, which is the most of any event this season. Defensive end Mekhi Brown was not on the registration list, but the defensive end showed up, showed out and earned one of the invitations to M&T Stadium for Rivals' premier event of the camp season.

As good as Brown looked, fellow defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter looked even better, taking home DL MVP honors and also earning an invitation to the Five-Star Challenge. It was a deep defensive line group, but Ledbetter had what it took to break through.

At quarterback, dual-threat Lorenzo Nunez was named MVP one day after South Carolina added to his long offer list. Nunez said he wants to make his decision after spring football.

The Rivals Camp Series continues on Sunday in Charlotte, where top prospects from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee will gather at Mallard Creek High School. Stay tuned to for the complete coverage of what will be our 11th stop in our 16-city tour this spring.
