Guyton is No. 5

All it took was a closer inspection of campus for Jalen Guyton to find a comfortable fit.

Guyton, a wide receiver from Allen, Texas, spent three days touring programs in the Midwest earlier this month. Ohio State, Northwestern and Notre Dame received visits. Less than two weeks later Guyton committed to the Irish, bringing his recruitment to a swift conclusion.

"I am blessed to say I will be taking my talents to the University of Notre Dame for my college career," Guyton announced via Twitter.

Notre Dame won out over scholarship offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Clemson, Illinois, Indiana, Ole Miss, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, San Diego State, SMU, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Wake Forest.

Guyton picked up an offer from the Irish in mid-February via assistant coach Kerry Cooks, who recruits the state. Cooks scored a commitment from Dallas defensive back Prentice McKinney last week as well.

After receiving the offer, Guyton took stock of the program.

"First, obviously, is the grades and the degree aspect," Guyton told Irish Illustrated. "They're stout in that field. But then also the fact that they're a pretty good football team as well. I've liked Golden Tate for awhile too and he went to Notre Dame. That's always a plus."

Guyton joins McKinney as the second Notre Dame commitment from Texas in the Class of 2015. He is the fourth on offense: Rivals100 quarterback Blake Barnett is in the fold along with four-star offensive linemen Tristen Hoge and Jerry Tillery.

Last season Guyton made 42 catches for 1,028 yards and 13 touchdowns while helping Allen High School to a state championship.
