RCS New Jersey: What to watch for

MORE: Rivals100 | Rivals250 | RCS Headquarters

The Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour hits the Garden State on Saturday with a stop at Piscataway High School in Piscataway, N.J. Five-star Minkah Fitzpatrick will be the highest rated player in attendance but more than 200 other Division I prospects will be on hand to show off their skills.

1. Stacked quarterback group
The stand out upperclassman in the group will be Rivals250 quarterback Brandon Wimbush but there are a number of signal callers that have or will get Division I offers. Brandon McIlwain and Jarrett Guarantano are the most well-known underclassmen that will be competing in Piscataway. Sonny Abramson, Jake Zembiec, Ryan Adzima and Chris Chugunov are some names to watch out for that could grab the quarterback MVP trophy. All of these quarterbacks will have a hard time throwing on five-star defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick.

2. Defensive line MVP is up for grabs
At the 2013 New Jersey edition of the Rivals Camp Series, Rashan Gary burst onto the scene and has since become one of the top recruits in the 2016 class. He will be competing again this year and there are plenty of quality defensive linemen in attendance to try to make sure Gary doesn't get the defensive line MVP trophy. His top competition will be three-star Shareef Miller and stud sophomore Rahshaun Smith. Quayshon Alexander, Austrian Robinson, David Ryslik, Malachi Felder, Felton Blackwell and Ron Johnson also have a very good chance at stealing the spotlight.

3. Competitive collection of linebackers
At least four different linebackers will be the top contenders for the linebacker MVP trophy. Jordan Fox, Joe Giles-Harris, Qaadir Sheppard and sophomore Dele' Harding will all get the running backs' best shot. Fox, a junior at Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep, and Giles-Harris, a junior at Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph's, have double-digit offers and a good performance this Saturday could add some momentum to their recruitment. Sheppard, a junior at New Rochelle (N.Y.) Iona Prep, has four offers at this point and this will be a good opportunity to get to see him play against some quality opponents. Harding could be the best of the bunch. The sophomore from Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian Academy has three scholarship offers but will surely get more at his recruitment picks up speed.

4. Underclassmen running backs galore
Upperclassmen Nas Bonner, Jonathan Forrest and Dontae Strickland will be looking over their shoulder all day at the younger running backs. Everybody will be watching 2016 stand out Kareem Walker. The Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic ball-carrier is quickly becoming one of the top targets in the 2016 class with close to 20 scholarship offers. Samir Bullock, Yeedee Thaenrat and Timothy Poindexter will be some of the other 2016 names to keep an eye on but the underclassman that could steal the show is 2017 Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's running back D'Andre Swift.

5. Which tight end will rise to the top?
With Rivals250 tight end Chris Clark heading to the Washington D.C. RCS, the door is open for a number of talented tight ends to shine on Saturday. Rutgers commit and Tenafly (N.J.) star Nakia Griffin, Coatesville (N.J.) Coatesville Area Senior stand out Amir Ealey, Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Charter Institute sophomore Naseir Upshur and many others will really have a chance to show how far along they are in their development. Ealey and Upshur play on the same 7-on-7 and are used to competing with each other but with the addition of Griffin and a number of other tight ends it looks like they will have their work cut out for them.
