Moten commits to NU

Good things, they say, come in threes, and that's certainly been the case for Northwestern this week.

Running back John Moten gave his verbal commitment to Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald today to become the third member of the Class of 2015, and the Wildcats' third pledge this week.

The three-star running back from St. Louis (Mo.) John Burroughs School chose the Wildcats over offers from Illinois, Boston College, Mizzou, Purdue, Syracuse and Wake Forest. At 6-feet and 188 pounds, he will fill the bigger back role for Northwestern.

Moten received his offer from Northwestern back in February, while on a visit to Evanston. He immediately called the program one of his favorites.

"They have great academics and it's Big Ten football," he told WildcatReport at the time. "I think it's a program with a lot of potential."

Moten's father, John Moten Sr., confirmed the commitment.

Moten joins linebacker Nathan Fox, who committed on Tuesday, and linebacker Tommy Vitale, who verballed yesterday, in Northwestern's quickly growing class.
