Mizzou already landed the commitment of the number three ranked player in the 2015 class from the state of Illinois. They are also the leader for the number one ranked player. Now, with the help of the Tigers' most recent commit, Lee's Summit (Mo.) quarterback Drew Lock, Missouri is making a push for number two ranked Miles Boykin.
"I mean yeah," the New Lennox (Ill.) Providence Catholic four-star said when asked if he was interested in Mizzou. "You know I met Drew [Lock] at the Nike Football Training Camp. He was up there for the Elite 11 Regional. He's a great quarterback and we were talking a little bit. He said you should go visit Missouri and I told him I'm thinking about it. It'll probably just be a matter of time before I get a chance to get down there. I'm definitely going to try and get down there."
Even before meeting Lock, Boykin had been hearing from Missouri for a while. The 6-foot-3, 212 pound wide receiver likes what he see's from Mizzou, despite not being offered yet.
"I've been hearing from Mizzou since the beginning of my junior year," said Boykin. "You know Missouri has an awesome offense... just watching them."
Boykin holds fourteen offers currently after putting up solid numbers as a junior. He finished his season with 19 receptions for 11 touchdowns and 309 yards. After taking a few more visits he will narrow his list down a couple times and then plans to make a decision so he can focus on his senior season.
"After spring recruiting I'm going to have a top ten and then sometime in the summer hopefully a top five. Then hopefully before the season I'll be able to decide," he said.
Right now, no one is standing out to Boykin. He did add that several schools are coming after him hard, though. When he does make his decision two factors will be the most important.
"The coaching staff and then the academics," said Boykin. "I want to major in sports management with a minor in law."
PowerMizzou will continue to follow Boykin's recruitment and provide any updates as we get them.
