The former Ole Miss offensive lineman has elected to transfer to Auburn after one season with the Rebels. He played in 12 games last year, mostly at guard, but was the leading candidate to play right tackle to open the 2014 season.
Golson is a native of Prattville, Ala., and carefully considered the Tigers during the 2013 recruiting cycle.
Per NCAA transfer rules, Golson will be forced to sit out the 2014 season and will pay his own way to attend Auburn beginning this fall. Tailback Corey Grant followed a similar path after announcing plans to transfer away from Alabama in June 2011.
Golson missed the Rebels' bowl game because of shoulder surgery. He was limited during Ole Miss' spring practice period, but was able to participate in some low-impact drills.
Golson committed to Florida State in 2012 and was recruited there by Dameyune Craig, who was serving as an assistant coach in Tallahassee at the time. Craig is now in his second season as receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator at Auburn.
Beginning in 2015, Golson will have three years of eligibility remaining.
