Prospect Profile 2002: Kedrick Golston

By: Scott Ashton

Sandy Creek's Kedric Golston is a name which Georgia fans are already extremely familiar with. Golston is a dominating defensive tackle, and any Georgia fan who has watched spring practice knows that the Dawgs are in dire need of some help in the trenches.

Golston stands 6-5, 285 pounds and has run a 4.8 forty. The big man benches 350, squats 500, and power cleans a hefty 315. A very impressive 2.9 GPA completes the package.

"I love the discipline of football. It keeps you out of trouble and teaches you responsibility. You can let out all your aggression and get after people."

Golston got after people as a junior, where the 4AAAA All-Stater recorded 55 solos, 33 assists, 12 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

"I go full speed every play. I have good hands and feet, and can stop the run while also putting a pretty good pass rush on the QB. I need to work on my speed and hip flexibility this summer."

As for Georgia, Golston likes the Dawgs along with FSU, Bama, LSU, AU, and Tennessee.

"I like Athens in general -- it's a great college town. I went up there for the Georgia Tech game last year."

Golston is originally from South Carolina, but has lived in Georgia for ten years. Coach Garner is recruiting Golston for Georgia.

"The main factors in my choice will be where I feel comfortable, and where I'll have a chance to play early. As soon as I know, I 'll let everyone know. I'll take my visits next winter and then decide."

Golston is going to the Nike camp this weekend at Georgia Tech. He is going to watch Georgia practice Tuesday since he will be unable to attend G-day. Golston will be one of Georgia's top priorities for the 2002 recruiting year. An in-state player of his stature is a must sign for Coach Richt's new staff.
