Tigerillustrated.com spoke with Gadsden, Ala. wide receiver La'Dontae Harris at 8:40 AM this morning where he told us he was now a Clemson Tiger. "I just finished breakfast and I'm on my way to go officially commit to Coach (Dabo) Swinney.
I'm definitely coming to Clemson. I'm sure about that," said Harris.
And when asked if we could put him down as a commitment, he stated, "Yes. You need to go ahead and do that. Hey, wonder if they'll give me a uniform today (laughing)?"
Last season for Litchfield High Harris caught 36 passes for 720 yards and eight scores. Both he and teammate/cousin Jazz Johnson (LB 6-2, 255, 4.7) earned all-region honors.
"Me and Jazz are going up to the coaches' offices right now. Do you want to talk with him? He's right here beside me."
When asked how the visit was thus far, Johnson stated, "It's pretty up here. The area is nice. The stadium is humongous. We'll see how it goes."
Johnson registered over 100 tackles as a junior, his first season on defense. He has offers from South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
For Harris, he states that he has offers from Clemson, South Carolina and Mississippi State.
The Alabama wideout becomes the ninth verbal commitment for Clemson this season. He says he projects as a full-qualifier academically.
