Purify named Buffs’ 2004 Most Valuable Player

Battling through two injured shoulders, running back Bobby Purify ran for 1,017 yards and nine touchdowns this season. The fifth year senior was named by his teammates as the Buffaloes' 2004 Most Valuable Player at the team banquet on Sunday afternoon.

He will finish his collegiate career third on CU's all-time rushing list with 3,016. He trails just Eric Bieniemy and Rashaan Salaam.

"Bobby is one of those guys that has always had great resolve," head coach Gary Barnett said earlier this season. "From the minute he's gotten here, he has had to develop that mentality, that toughness. He has had surgery on his shoulder, foot and ankle."

"He is almost a pro in there doing his job," he added. "He is also great in protection and he is just a complete football player. He is what you hope you can get all your players to be at some point in their career."
