Brown: I have to go with the 'Noles

Everette Brown made sure the tradition continued this season and he did it in style.

The four-star defensive end from Wilson, N.C., announced he was verbally committing to Florida State live on national television Wednesday night, becoming the latest of a long line of highly-ranked recruits from the state of North Carolina to end up with the Seminoles.

"I have to go with the Noles," said Brown in a live interview from Charlotte on Fox's Countdown to Signing Day show as he donned an FSU hat. "It's a great opportunity to play for a legendary coach and to get a great degree, too."

North Carolina products A.J. Nicholson, Nick Maddox and Jamal Edwards -- who were all ranked among the nation's top recruits in past years -- all chose FSU as well.

The 6-foot-2, 238-pound Brown, who is ranked the No. 71 prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, had narrowed his long list of choices down to FSU, North Carolina and Virginia Tech. He had planned official visits to UNC and VT later this month, but isn't sure if he will take them now.

"That's something me and my parents are talking over," said Brown about the scheduled visits. "But, I am very committed to Florida State."

Brown, who also played tight end and outside linebacker for Beddingfield High, said he prefers to play defensive end at the next level.

Brown, who took a handful of unofficial visits to UNC, was asked about what he liked about each of the final three schools he was considering before making announcing his commitment and specifically why so many in-state recruits seem to like Tar Heels head coach John Bunting.

"(Coach Bunting) is a down-to-earth guy and he is easy to talk to," he said. "He is truthful and he won't make anything out to be phony.
"UNC went into this season as an underdog and impressed everybody."

Brown finished his senior season with 126 tackles, 30 tackles-for-a-loss and 10 touchdowns.
