Wilson picks State, cancels visits

Mississippi State had its biggest recruiting weekend of the year last weekend and the good news continues to flow in. This time it is a prospect that fills a dire need in addition to being one of the top prospects in the Magnolia State. Four-star offensive tackle Calvin Wilson (6-foot-5, 336 pounds) decided today that he wanted to be a Bulldog, and said as far as he is concerned the recruiting process is over.

"I committed to Mississippi State today," he said. "I called coach Croom and coach Kitchens. I knew that's where I wanted to be, so I just wanted to go ahead and make it public.

"When I went up there for the visit I felt at home and I had a lot of fun. I was kind of leaning to them at first, but that visit really got me."

How firm is his decision?

"It is firm," he said. "Solid as a rock. I am through with all my visits." So has he let the other schools know yet?

"I told coach (Matt) Luke (from Ole Miss) last night and I kind of told him that I was close to committing, but he just wanted me to come down for a visit to try to see what they had in store. I am not going there though." He has yet to talk to the Florida staff, but does not plan to trip to Gainesville either.

Wilson will have no problems qualifying with a 2.7 GPA and an 18 on the ACT.
