MADISON, Wis. - Today the Wisconsin Badgers (1-0) face the Temple Owls (0-1) in an 11:10 a.m. (CDT) kickoff at the newly renovated Camp Randall Stadium.
Last week the Badgers defeated Bowling Green, 56-42, and were led by the debut performance of junior running back and Colorado transfer Brian Calhoun. Calhoun rushed 258 yards and five touchdowns in the victory.
On the other side of Saturday's competition, the Owls dropped their season opener, 63-13, to then-No. 20 Arizona State in week one. Against ASU, Temple allowed the Sun Devils 300 yards on the ground, which might be the statistic that stands out most to the Badgers, or at least Calhoun. ASU also put up 259 passing yards on the Owls.
Badger fans should probably expect less carries for Calhoun today and, if the game goes UW's way, the backups should see more playing time. Temple enjoys the spread attack in some of its passing game, but unlike BGSU last week the Owls use the huddle which will give the Badgers secondary more time to adjust than they did a week ago. However, Temple will look to establish the running game first and undoubtedly pressure a sub-par UW secondary as often as it can.
NOTE: Today with scorching temperatures expected near the 90's stadium conditions will be rough. In order to make your gameday experience more enjoyable the UW Athletic Department has announced that fans are able to bring their own sealed bottles of water to the stadium. Please take serious precautions with a day like this. BadgerBlitz.com wishes you all a safe and enjoyable day at Camp Randall Stadium.
