A quick look at the latest news out of the ACC from around the Rivals.com Network:
Atlantic Division Practice Reports
Boston College: With Ty Hall missing Thursday's scrimmage with a shoulder/neck injury, Ryan Poles has all but locked up the starting let guard position. Linebacker Jolonn Dunbar had an interception and a sack in Thursday's scrimmage. L.V. Whitworth has looked the most impressive running the football as of late. He is battling with Andre Callender for the starting tailback position, but Callender has been sidelined with a shoulder injury.
Clemson: Linebacker Tramaine Billie rolled his ankle in the final series of Wednesday's evening practice, and Thursday the team discovered his roll was really a break. The injury leaves either sophomoreAntonio Clay or freshman Jeremy Campbell to fill the void at 'sam' linebacker.
Florida State: Freshman center Brandon Davis saw significant time with both the first- and second-team offense on Thursday as Dumaka Atkins rested with a minor shoulder injury. Sophomore defensive tackle Letroy Guion returned for parts of Thursday's practice after missing all of summer workouts with a shoulder injury. Junior linebacker Anthony Kelly separated his left shoulder last week in practice and announced this week that he will have what is likely to be season-ending surgery.
N.C. State: Coach Chuck Amato is not at all pleased with the play of his defense going into this Saturday's scrimmage. He was especially displeased with their performance in the goal-line drills.
Wake Forest: A day after the team's first scrimmage, the Demon Deacons only practiced for two hours on Wednesday. The passing game looked good in the scrimmage, completing seven passes of 30 yards or more and five touchdowns. Senior Willie Idlette had two of the touchdown grabs in the scrimmage.
Coastal Division Practice Reports
Duke: Junior Ronnie Drummer caught a 10-yard pass and then scampered 35 yards with it for a score on Thursday. Sophomore safety Glenn Williams returned to practice this week and has shown no signs of being behind in his push for a starting role. Freshman defensive end Wesley Oglesby has had a great week knocking down passes in practice.
Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets have been emphasizing special teams in practice this week. Sophomore David Brown moved from defensive line and is now seeing time at offensive tackle. There are three players competing for the open cornerback spot. Sophomore Jahi Word-Daniels, junior Pat Clark and junior Avery Roberson have all been getting reps at that spot.
Miami: Running back Charlie Jones finally made his return to practice. He had missed most of preseason practice with a pulled hamstring, but Friday he had a 50-yard touchdown run during drills.
North Carolina: The defense flew around the field during Thursday's scrimmage. Justin Warren had a 65-yard touchdown run. Four-star receiver Hakeem Nicks has been everything the team expected from the recruit so far. The quarterbacks did not look good in many facets of the Thursday's scrimmage.
Virginia: Virginia's leading receiver, Deyon Williams had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. The backup quarterback position is still not set, thanks primarily to a bike accident involving Jameel Sewell, who injured his foot.
Virginia Tech: The Hokies are working through injury problems at the running back position. Elan Lewis bruised his knee but has been practicing. Kenny Lewis has a bad hamstring and has missed some time, and George Bell developed a stiff knee and missed several practices.
