High school football is heating up as team's position themselves at runs towards the postseason. Among the highlights, Chattanooga Baylor's Kevin Cooper had a huge night in helping his team to victory and Daryl Vereen once again cracked the 100-yard mark in leading his team to a much-needed win.
Here's a recap of how the commitments did last week.
Coleman had a chance to put it on cruise control last week as McCallie eased by Tyner 37-6. The Tennessee commitment helped his squad to a 37-0 halftime lead before leaving the second half to the reserves.
Coleman started the scoring with a 10-yard first quarter touchdown run and was an efficient six of eight for 156 yards through the air.
This Friday McCallie has a big match-up with Montgomery Bell Academy.
Kevin Cooper - (6-foot-1, 240 pounds, 4.7 40-yard dash) Fullback Chattanooga/Baylor
Cooper had a huge night last week, and his team needed it in a narrow 24-20 victory over Father Ryan Academy. The future Tennessee fullback was a one-man wrecking crew as Baylor moved to 6-2, rumbling for 240 yards on the ground and scoring on touchdown runs of 73 and 62 yards.
Vereen didn't have the kind of huge night he's turned in on a couple of occasions this fall, but he ran 23 times for 146 yards and scored North Mecklenburg's only two touchdowns on runs of two and 37 yards in a 14-3 win over Central Cabarrus.
