When it comes to quarterbacks and the NFL, we all know teams covet the top prospects.
Three QBs were chosen in the first 11 picks of the 2006 draft.
Sometimes the high draft selections pan out (Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Vince Young – so far). Other top picks never reach expectations (Ryan Leaf, Heath Shuler and Akili Smith to name a few).
However, there are also guys who will fly under the radar and end up having very productive NFL careers - guys like Tom Brady and Marc Bulger come to mind.
With the NFL Combine approaching later this month, Rivals.com has turned to NFL Draft partner Frank Coyle of draftinsiders.com for his list of the top quarterback prospects for April's draft.
Who is rated higher – Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell? Where does Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith fit into the picture? Which small college quarterbacks have a chance of getting drafted? This list answers those questions.
We are happy to renew our partnership with Coyle and his team. One of the most impressive pieces of our coverage of the 2006 NFL Draft was our list of "super sleeper" small college players. Each player in Coyle's top 10 was drafted. That's quite an impressive feat, but that is the kind of depth of coverage our readers expect from Rivals.com.
