Barksdale chooses LSU

We hinted at it on the message boards for the last two weeks and on Saturday Detroit Cass Tech defensive tackle Joseph Barksdale chose to attend LSU. With his family around him, Barksdale made the announcement at the U.S. Army All-American game.

"I'm going to be attending the University of LSU," said Barksdale on live national television Saturday.

Barksdale had narrowed his choices to Ohio State, Michigan State and LSU and decided for the Bayou Bengals in part because of his respect for their defensive line tradition.

An early enrollee, Barksdale has already registered for classes at LSU and will be starting there later this month. The 6-6, 320-pound prospect has been extremely impressive all week long at Army Bowl practices and promises to be a big pickup for head coach Les Miles and his staff.
