The Georgia Bulldogs will begin spring practice on March 5 in Athens, Georgia. Head coach Mark Richt released his first tentative depth chart for the spring on Tuesday afternoon. The 2007 spring depth chart features ten players that did not start for the Bulldogs in 2006 as first-string offensive players. Below is a list of the offense and defense heading into spring ball. Some of the players listed below will practice in limited capacity in drills due to injury and they will not take contact in spring practice.
The biggest position battles this spring will be in the trenches on the offensive defensive line where the Bulldogs have to replace six of their nine starters from the 2006 team. On the offensive line the two tackle positions as well as the center position will be up for grabs and on the defensive side one of the tackle positions as well as the two defensive end spots are in play. The one other big positional change from 2006 is the linebacker position where all three starters left following the 2006 season. Seven players are battling for three starting jobs as three redshirt freshmen push for playing time.
