With a press conference to announce his college decision scheduled for Friday afternoon, Gainesville (GA) defensive end Keith Wells had one last thing to do before calling it a night. The four-star prospect had to make a trip to a local store to pick up the necessary items for his scheduled 1:00 p.m. announcement in the lobby of his high school.
Earlier this evening, Wells spoke to Warchant.com while out shopping for those items.
"I am getting the hat situation situated right now," Wells told Warchant.com. "I will have a hat for all three schools."
Those three schools are Auburn, Florida, and Florida State. Wells has remained high on all three of his finalists but said that he already knows which hat he will be putting on.
"I know what school I want to go to," Wells said. "My mom and my coach both know. Basically what I needed these couple of days for were to pray on it and evaluate it. I am going with my gut feeling, my gut instinct. I am pretty confident with my decision."
With the recruiting process winding down, the Rivals250 member reflected a bit on how his recruitment has gone.
"Honestly I enjoyed the part where you got to meet all of the different coaches and go to all these different places as well as the exposure aspect of it," Wells said. "At the same time, it can be a bit overwhelming and stressful at times."
The negatives of the recruiting process are part of the reason why the talented defender is ready to make his final decision. More importantly, he wants to get it out of the way so he can concentrate his focus on the field for his final season.
"I am just ready to get this all over with," Wells said. "I want to focus on my team and on developing as a player. I definitely want to start worrying about my team more and stepping up as a leader on my team."
"I am just ready to move on with the next stage of my life."
That next stage on the collegiate level will be known later today. Warchant.com will provide live coverage of Wells' decision on the Premium Recruiting Message Board.
