Riddell Footwear: Defensive back Nominations

Defensive Back Nominations
The Riddell Footwear High School All-America Football Team consists of the best football players in the entire country. Additionally, the team will bestow seven special coaching awards - one to the national high school coach of the year and six more to regional coaches of the year throughout the country. Here are the nominations for the defensive backs. The actual team members will be announced in January, along with the Riddell Footwear National Coach of the Year and six Riddell Footwear Regional Coaches of the Year.

Olson, Ben

Darnell Bing
Long Beach (Calif.) Poly
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 205 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.5 seconds
GPA: 3.0
Bing is one of the top defensive backs in the state of California. In addition, he is one of the top safety recruits in the entire country. He was a first team all-state underclassmen selection during his junior season.
College choices: Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Olson, Ben

Chris Davis
St. Petersburg(Fla.)
Catholic
Height:
6-foot-0
Weight: 170 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.4 seconds
GPA: 2.5
Davis is one of the top players in the country and could be the best player in Florida this year. Davis threw for 1,446 yards last season and ran for another 1,300 yards. He totaled 27 touchdowns as a junior. While he plays quarterback, he could also make an amazing defensive back or receiver.
College choices: Boston College, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Miami, Notre Dame, South Carolina, USC and Virginia Tech.

Olson, Ben

Devin Hester
Riviera Beach(Fla.) Suncoast
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 180 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.33 seconds
GPA: 2.8
Devin Hester is one of the fastest players in Florida this recruiting year. Hester is a threat to the outside and catching the ball - but is an amazing cover corner. Either way, he's an amazing athlete.
College choices: Georgia, Florida State and Miami.

Olson, Ben

Edorian McCullough
Garland (Texas) North Garland
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 190 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.3 seconds
GPA: 3.4
The 5-11, 190-pound McCullough has emerged as one of the state's top overall football recruits and it might not be a stretch to say that he's easily one of the fastest football players in the nation. In May, McCullough won gold in the 100 meters at the Texas State Track Meet with a time of 10.32. He also added two silver medals in the 200 meters (22.00) and the 4X100-meter relay.
College choices: Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.

Olson, Ben

Eric McNeal
Gardena (Calif.) Serra
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 195 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.49 seconds
GPA: 3.5
McNeal is one of the top safety prospects in the nation and probably the top safety in the West. He ended the recruiting process early with a commitment to UCLA.
College choices: Committed to UCLA.

Olson, Ben

Aaron Miller
Fresno (Calif.) Edison
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 175 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.4 seconds
GPA: 2.75
Miller is one of the top safety prospects in the nation and is one of the top overall players in the West. On film, he is always around the ball and when he gets there he is not in a good mood. The kid can play and somebody is going to get a real blue-chipper.
College choices: UCLA, LSU, Michigan and Oklahoma.

Olson, Ben

Jarrad Page
San Leandro, Calif.
Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 190 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.49 seconds
GPA: 3.1
All League first-team as a junior and all-East Bay, in addition to being all-state underclassman. Considered just the right combination of physical and intelligent play. Described by his coach as a "great cover guy" who will be an asset to any college football program.

40-yard dash: 4.27 seconds
GPA: 3.0
Washington rushed for 800 yards (13.6 yards per carry) and caught passes for more than 500 yards as a junior. He had 23 touchdowns and was probably even better on defense - where he'll project as a lock-down cover corner.
College choices: South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, Maryland and Oklahoma.

Olson, Ben Pat Watkins
Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 190 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.45 seconds

Darren Williams
Clarksdale, Miss.
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 205 pounds

Williams had 73 tackles, 11 interceptions and two fumble recoveries from his free safety position. On the offensive side of the ball, Williams accounted for 27 receptions that totaled 579 yards at a 19.5-yard average and five touchdowns. His skills are also directed towards the kicking game. He averaged 21 yards a punt return with five touchdowns. Williams's totals only support his potential All-American status.
