Gerell Robinson announces for ASU

SAN ANTONIO - After giving some hints earlier in the week that he might pick Notre Dame, Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton Athlete Gerell Robinson decided to stay closer to home to play his college football.

Robinson announced his decision to attend Arizona State at the U.S. Army All-American Game.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound athlete has practiced at safety all week for the Army All-American Bowl, but will likely start out at receiver in college.

Robinson originally pledged the University of Arizona as a quarterback prospect during his junior season. Then he de-committed from the school in September of 2007 citing his desire to play wide receiver in college.

After re-opening the recruiting process, Robinson took several official visits, later narrowing his list to Arizona State, Notre Dame and Oregon.

Robinson is ranked as the No. 8 Athlete in the country and No. 52 overall by Rivals.com.
