UT loses RB; McGuffie delays between Michigan, Cal

Cy Fair running back/inside receiver extraordinaire Sam MCGuffie has delayed his signing with Michigan.

The running back Texas was waiting for _ Darrell Scott of California _ decided on Colorado rather than the Horns.

McGuffie has been committed since the summer but just got back from a visit from California. McGuffie has been getting mixed messages from how much he'd be used at Michigan under new coach Rich Rodriquez, who will bring in hordes of small, fast elusive guys like McGuffie, who would have been a unique player under former coach Lloyd Carr.

California has recruited Texas well for speed and versatile athletes. Cal used fromer Arlington Grace Prep star Justin Forsett at running back this year.

Cal is also hot after Plano junior running back Rex Burkhead in the same running back/receiver/returner role that McGuffie would help fill.
