Martin looks to take recruitment to higher level with Beavers

Sean Martin had goals when he came to Corvallis this past weekend. The speedy 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back from Corona (Calif.) Santiago High School wanted to get a closer look at Oregon State and the football program, but also wanted to show the coaching staff that his recruitment deserved taking up a notch. Consider both things accomplished for the talented athlete.

In town with teammate Marlion Barnett, Martin's stay was relatively short, but very productive.

"We went there on Sunday for one day and the camp went pretty good," Martin said. "We did a lot of team and 7-on-7 stuff and after camp, we got a tour of the school and I liked it a lot. I liked how there was a community and that they have all the support from the fans - it reminded me of an SEC-type school with all that fan support. The facilities and the campus were really good and I really enjoyed seeing it all."

Martin's visit to Oregon State definitely elevated the Beavers on his list. While he's still waiting on an offer from OSU, he felt that he was that much closer to earning the ultimate respect from the coaching staff based on his performance in camp.

"I thought I showed them that I deserve to get looked at more," Martin said. "The coaches said that they'd keep in touch with me more."
