Evans and Koroma return to the practice field

BWI Publisher Phil Grosz contributed to this report.

Suspended Penn State defensive linemen Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma are back with the team after missing three games each after police found a "small amount" of marijuana in their apartment in early September.

Two separate sources confirmed with Blue White Illustrated on Monday evening that both Evans and Koroma returned to practice on Monday, and were running with the second team.

BWI was also told that a Judicial Affairs hearing for Evans and Koroma will probably take place this week and that it is expected Evans and Koroma will at the very worst be placed on University probation, which will have no impact on their ability to practice and participate in games.

BWI was informed that the "Anwar Phillips Rule" that under Judicial Affairs bylaws that prevented student/ athletes to participate in extre-cirricular activities while under a Judicial Affairs Code of Conduct investigation is no longer in existance. It was eliminated when Judicial Affairs was re-organized this past spring.

In the Lions' first game of the season against Coastal Carolina, both Koroma and Evans were contributors and starters along the defensive line, making two tackles each.

Evans is a first team pre-season All-American as rated by Athlon and second-team for Phil Steele's 2008 College Football All-American team.

His sophomore season, Evans put up fantastic numbers, finishing second in the Big Ten with 21.6 tackles for a loss at negative 117 yards, third in the conference with 12.5 sacks, and second in the conference with five forced fumbles.

Koroma doesn't have the accolades of Evans, but has still been a big contributor to the Nittany Lions since Jared Odrick went down a season ago.

After missing the first four games of his redshirt freshman season, Koroma recorded seven tackles for the season and even started the Lions' bowl game against Texas A&M. is your source for: College Football | Football Recruiting | College Basketball | Basketball Recruiting | College Baseball | High School | College Merchandise
