Pair of commits happy to be Raiders

Middle Tennessee landed a pair of recent commitments from Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove running back William Pratcher and Cocoa (Fla.) cornerback Marquise Dixon.

The two spoke briefly with GoMiddle.com about their choices.

Pratcher sees opportunity at MT

Pratcher is the third running back to commit to Middle Tennessee in this class and he is looking forward to the challenge of competing for some early time on the field.

But it was what he saw in the classroom that he mentioned first about his reasons for committing to the Blue Raiders.

"I like what they have education wise and what they could for me with my education," Pratcher said. "I want to major in business management ... I also got a good feel for (Coach Stockstill).

"I visited last weekend and committed on the following Wednesday. It was a place where I could fit in. Their running back Phillip Tanner hosted me. I actually just got off the phone with him."

Pratcher has a versatile set of skills for a running back and while he may be somewhat undersized, he will arrive on campus with plenty of confidence that he belongs.

"I plan on playing right away, some kind of reps. I am an all-purpose back. I can do it all."

Dixon sees MT as the best fit

Marquise Dixon became the second member of his high school team to commit to a Sun Belt school when he pledged to the Blue Raiders.

After his visit to MT last weekend, Dixon felt he had seen enough to know he could be valuable for the defensive looks the Raiders like to employ.

"I chose (MT) because they were offering me a full scholarship and I fit in well with them scheme wise," Dixon said. "They play nickel and dime a lot and like to bring in that extra defensive back.

"(The visit) was pretty good. There isn't too much to do up there but that's good because I can focus on (school and football)."
