Anderson, Arrivey & King Claim Pac-10 Titles

It was merely a formality for sophomore hurdler Jeshua Anderson to bring home his second consecutive Pac-10 title in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Pac-10 Track & Field Championships in Eugene. Anderson was, after all, a prohibitive favorite and the defending conference and NCAA champion in the event. As expected, Anderson brought home the conference crown in a time of 48.90, which currently leads the nation. But Wazzu got two more conference crowns from women's 400-meter hurdler Lorraine King and men's high jumper Trent Arrivey.

King helped the Cougars own the 400-meter hurdle event by running a personal best 57.51, which placed her second on the all-time list behind Randi Smith's 57.07 in 2000. King also won the first-ever title in the event for WSU.

Arrivey was the meet favorite coming in to the high jump and performed to form with a leap of 2.19 meters [7-2.25] to easily claim the crown.

In addition to Anderson and Arrivey's wins, sprinter Justin Woods finished second in both the men's 100 and 200 meter races while the men's 4x400 relay team also took second place. The Wazzu men's team finished fourth while the women's teams finished ninth.

Wazzu individuals will next compete at the NCAA Regional competition on May 29-30 in Eugene.
